You may have noticed the newest fleet of MTA buses. Each of them is now equipped with a camera linked to the Parking Violations Bureau. PSA: New City Buses Equipped with Ticket Cameras

You may have noticed the newest fleet of MTA buses. Each of them is now equipped with a camera linked to the Parking Violations Bureau. If a bus pulls into a bus stop and there is a car standing there – even if the car is running – the bus’ camera will take a picture of the license plate and the owner will receive a $165 ticket in the mail.

It uses a system similar to that of the red light cameras located at many intersections.

Save yourself the headache and the money by never pulling into a bus stop for any reason, even if it is just to drop someone off or pick someone up. The city has found a new way to raise money, and with the picture of your plate at the bus stop it will be very difficult to fight.

oh my thank you for the warning- what about self incriminating cameras for the buses that turn on red lights and slow down trafiic????

  • Doesn-t Comply With The Law

But you are lawfully allowed to stop in a no standing zone to pick up or discharge passengers. Fight the tickets.

Just think of other people. What if you had a disability? Go find a proper parking space or take the bus like everyone else.
