Kashrus Alert: Melanie Chocolate Not Certified by OK

The OK has released a statement alerting the Jewish community in the New York area that Melanie Chocolate, whose package bears the OK symbol, is in fact not certified by the OK.

The product is being sold in Purim stores throughout the Tri-State area, and is being marketed as a Shalach Manos filler.

The product is being recalled by the manufacturer, but still remains on some stores’ shelves.

  • How did the symbol get on the package?

Did the OK retract their kashrus or the company put it on on their own??

Really disappointing when this happens, I have eaten countless of the bars %56 %72 and %90 cacao, was it a removal of the Hashgacha or was it never Kosher?

  • OK KOSHER

This product was once kosher certified by special production, but no productions have been done recently. These chocolates were not produced under supervision.
