Lag BaOmer in CH: Parking, Security and Carnival Info

Sunday April 28, 2013 the Community will be celebrating the holiday of Lag BaOmer with a parade and carnival. Organizers and the NYPD have released information pertaining to parking regulations, parade security and carnival information all in the Extended Article.

Parking and Traffic:

Beginning Saturday (Motzai Shabbos), April 27th, 2013 from 11:30pm though  Sunday April 28th, 2013, 3:00pm the will be NO PARKING on the following blocks:

Eastern Parkway service lanes both north and south sides form Brooklyn Avenue to Albany Avenue
Albany Avenue from Eastern Parkway to President Street
Kingston Avenue from Eastern Parkway to Empire Boulevard
President Street from Brooklyn Avenue to Kingston Avenue
East New York Avenue from Brooklyn Avenue to Albany Avenue

If your car is parked on any of the above blocks after midnight on (Motzai Shabbos) Sunday April 28th, 2013 it will be towed and relocated to the Kingston and Winthrop area.

Some of the blocks will be towed due to large crowd sizes expected while others will be towed for security reasons.

In addition there will be major traffic delays along Eastern Parkway.

Security:

After the recent attack in Boston the organizers of the Great Parade and the NYPD would like to assure everyone that security precautions have been taken to make sure that The Great Parade proceeds safely and securely. Our staff has discussed the security of the event with the NYPD chief of Brooklyn south.

The amount of police officers present will be increased, security will be bolstered, and there will be a sweep of the parkway before the event.

There will be no Knap sacks, backpacks, luggage or large bags permitted to the Parade route and anyone wishing to cross thru will be subject to a bag check or will be redirected around the event.

Here are a few guidelines to follow:

1. From Motzei Shabbos at midnight and on, all unattended personal objects on the parade grounds will be confiscated and disposed of.
2. Large items and bags such as backpacks and suitcases will not be allowed onto the premises during the parade.
3. The police have also urged us to remind everyone to follow the guidelines, maps, and instructions that The Great Parade will be providing.
4. Finally “If you see something, say something.” Alert the security if you see any suspicious activity.

Thank You in advance and remember If you see something say something.
