As a proud Yeka, I am deeply offended by this display of mockery against my ancestry.

The Jews of Ashkanaz (Germany) have a long and glorious history and there is nothing to clown about being a yeka.

    The term is derogatory!!

    I am not amused.

  • Yekas unite!!

And I am a yeka fun de heim, my Zaidie being a proud Viennese. Go Yeka!!!

  • to Lucky Charms

in cae you havent noticed they made the tshirt as a campine to collect money to keep the camp there going.

as a proud yaka you should buy 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Some History

YEKA means – Yekatirenoslav – the city in Ukraine that the Rabbe’s family lived.

    To “Lucky Charms”:
I don’t think the site posted this to mock you or your ancestry at all.

To #8 & #9 I have no sense of humor? Me? If I see or hear something funny I laugh. In fact, I sometimes laugh for no reason at all…ha ha ha. However, there is nothing funny about mocking others!

Imagine if this t-shirt would make fun of another group of people…since Palin is a BT, let me wear a t-shirt saying: “I luv BT” would that not be offensive?? (Sorry to any BT reading this, it is merely an illustration of the point).

Where have you lost your sensitivity? Oh, I can answer that -you probably think it’s funny when someone else falls down the stairs, but if it should happen to you, it becomes tragic.

RESPECTING OTHERS – is that asking too much?

There is an sleepaway, overnight camp in Yekatrinuslav, Ukraine to benefit the ukrainian children there. Due to financial constrains, the camp does not pay for the staff’s airfare. The staff therefore go around and raise their ticket’s cost. This is a PR stunt to help create hype and interest in their cause.

  • yekka

I am not yeka, but yekkish!!
lol, it is not offending, i think it is cute and I am a proud yekka

  • Lucky Charms

I just checked, I am really a yekke (wikipedia), NOT a Yekka, so never mind, I am moychel, forget about my earlier comments…just as long as no one dares mock a yekke!

  • A note to lucky charms

I think that you’re taking it out of context. As a relative to one of the former staff there, I am greatly impressed that someone thought of such a creative way to make money for the camp. I know you were trying to bring out your point by bringing in the example of a BT, but personally, if I were a BT, I would be proud that someone is supporting me. What is with the I Love NY t-shirts? Do you think that’s offensive? I don’t know why you’re getting so upset. It just doesn’t make sense. I don’t know if you know the camp, but when I hear the word Yeka, I think about the camp and all the wonderful things that are accomplished there.
I hope this note will help you understand that the t-shirt is not a mockery; it’s just a way to help raise money, as numbers 4 and 14 so rightly said.
