Live Music and Kumzitz at Women’s Simchas Beis

On Wednesday evening, a Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration for women took place in Crown Heights, featuring musicians Esther Freeman, Laura Melnicoff, Miriam Sherr and others.

The event was held at Chevra Ahavas Yisroel on Albany Ave., and also featured a drum circle, kumzitz with niggunim, live interactive art, and more.

Billed as a non-denominational unity event, women and girls from across the community joined together in joyous song and dance for Simchas Beis Hashoeva, united by their desire to celebrate the utmost joy of this powerful time.

Why was it billed a “non-denominational unity event”?
I thought it’s billed as a “Simchas Beis Hashoeva”? No one cares who you invite.
Never forget that we’re Chassidim first…..despite all the hippie goofyness that now prevails in CH.

Yudi, you are only able to speak for yourself. Statements like “no one cares” or “never forget that we’re…” imply that you believe that you’re some kind of spokesperson for a homogeneous group. There are many interests, perspectives, and outlooks in Crown Heights. Yours is a valid opinion, but it’s not the only one or even the “correct” one.
