Op-Ed: Another Tragedy, But We Are Alive

A 16 year old Chabad girl penned the following passionate response to the terrible shooting that took place in Jersey City yesterday.

Yet another tragedy occurred today. It broke my heart. It still does break my heart. 5 hours ago our fellow Yidden were killed.

No, I don’t know them. But I know that they’re especially precious to Hashem and Hashem wanted them with Him. But it’s still not fair. We don’t need to go through this. And we can’t either look at all the news updates, cry, and move on.

Hashem wants action from us!!!

YOU, dear reader, are alive. Unlike our fellow Yidden who were just killed and can’t accomplish anything in this world in Olam Hazeh. YOU CAN! Hashem gave YOU the ability to make a great difference in this world. Appreciate the fact that you’re alive. And go shake up the heaven and storm the world with acts of goodness and kindness.

Pick any Mitzvah that’s hard for you to do and DO IT!

Reacting to today’s brutal shooting, I passionately believe a really good Mitzvah to do is to give out Shevah Mitzvos Bnei Noach cards. Our dear Lubavitcher Rebbe initiated this beautiful campaign many years ago, and if we all try to give out a huge amount of cards within the next few days, g-d willing these attacks won’t happen again.

When Goyim know that they have a mission in this world, and that they have morals and values to treasure and keep, hopefully these vicious killings won’t ever happen again because Moshiach will come NOW!!!!!!

May we only hear of Besuros Tovos!
