New York to Get Legoland Park in 2020

A Legoland amusement park is set to open just north of New York City in 2020, joining existing Legolands in California, Florida, the United Kingdom, Germany, Malaysia, Denmark, Dubai and Japan.

The 170-acre (0.27-square-mile) park, which is being built by Merlin Entertainments, will be built in the Hudson Valley. $350 million will be invested in the project, which is expected to create 1,300 full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs.

A local planning board voted in favor of the project last week amid opposition from some residents who fear added congestion in this suburban area 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of New York City.
