Video: Family Tries to Escape Mob of Bikers in NYC

A disturbing video has emerged from yesterday’s annual bikers’ event in New York City, showing the shocking moment a Range Rover drove through a crowd of motorbikes as it tried to escape a mob of dozens of bikers that surrounded it.

According to police, the bikers started to damage the vehicle after the driver accidentally rear-ended a motorcyclist.

Fearing for the safety of his wife and 2-year-old child in the back seat, the SUV driver then sped off, hitting several bikes in his path – though no people were injured.

The mob then chases the terrified driver and his family for several minutes along the highway. At one point, the SUV stops and a biker tries to enter the vehicle, prompting the driver to flee again.

Forced to stop at a traffic light, the Range Rover comes to a standstill, and within seconds two bikers are off their vehicles and attacking the driver’s side windows. The first takes off his helmet and throws it against the driver’s door window, smashing it; the second tries to punch through the rear door window, where the young child was seated.

The footage then stops.

An NYPD spokesman said that the SUV driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital and treated for lacerations to his face and body. His wife and child are unhurt. There were no other injuries reported from the incident.

Sources say the city has now banned the riders’ annual event.

    What in the world were those bikers thinking of?!!! Almost from the beginning they were breaking traffic laws and should have been cited by highway patrol for reckless driving at the very least. I guess they’re Hell’s Angels wannabes only if they met the real ones they wouldn’t stand a chance.

    and NOT one officer saw this at any given time ??? if so this is a sad city … during this whole 6 minute video and all his driving NOT one police car ??? NOT one foot patrol ??? nobody ???

    Only one motobike allowed in each lane same as cars, i think citations should be sent to all bikes that are seen in this footage, a few each. 1. failure to signal before changing lanes 2. tailgating 3. failure to stay in lane.

    I was crossing the street with my kids as these bikers cut me off and ran the red light. There were about 3 police that witnessed the incident and none of them did anything. Thanks Gd we are ok, but I was scared when we were surrounded by speeding bikes in the middle of the cross walk. Its crazy how the city allows this.

    SO Scary! It seems like the bikers purposely stopped on the highway, causing the car to bump one of them…
    Why was that biker recording? Did he KNOW something was going to happen??

    BH the guy and his family are lucky to be alive – no joke!

    These sub-humans don’t value life – seen from just the way they drive and the police are more afraid of them then they are of the police. (I see it all the time how the police will never stop them – clearly b/c they are intimidated by them)

    Something must be done about this incident and about the issue as a whole…

    The guy on the motorcycle clearly rode right in front of the driver of the suv, porbably got annoyed that the suv driver HONKED at him and clearly he slows down! causing the SUV to hit him! what on earth!

    Hey guys… Just come to Brazil and you will see what is crazy. Every day at least 2 bikers die. They let no car pass or change lines. Bikers hitting cars and people is NORMAL. Lepachos gives us reason to say hagomel every day!
