I read the article posted on this site a while ago about the mobile gas station on Empire Blvd. well, I guess I should have listened to that article. On Wednesday afternoon last week (Erev Yom Kippur) at 2:30pm I went to get gas at the mobile gas station on Empire Blvd. corner of New York Ave. and filled up gas.
I gave the guy my credit card, he walked into the little room over there holding my card in his hand. Then he comes out, gives me the receipt to sign and after I sign it he begins to walk away. I yell out to him "hey, my credit card?” He says "I gave it to you man". I said back to him "no you didn’t" and I had a friend in the car and he reassured me im not losing my mind and the guy did not come back with my card.

So after a few minutes of searching pockets, and inside the car and inside the gas station I gave up and I just canceled the card right away. I am not going back there anymore, and neither should you.
cracking down time
its a shame because the station is owned by a jewish person.
Concerned
I have been hustled and hassled there and even intimidated by the employees there too. They did some unrequested checks of oil and intimidated me until I gave them money. That is besides their overpriced gas and service charges. There is an Exxon and a Shell a few blocks down Empire (by Bedford and by Washington Ave.) where you can fill up for cheaper and without the intimidation!!!
noone
webby, y didnt u call the cops?? there right there..like y didnt u actualy do something about the situation other than canceling ur cc?

im the one
first of all, it wasn’t webby. (it was me). 2nd, what should i have done? walk into the police station and say "he took my credit card"?? the police would tell me to call the credit card company and cancell the card (which is what i did). there is nothing the police (or anyone) can do about something like this. there is no proof.

funky
im the one- it might be a crazy idea, but why dont u tell one of the cops to go there and buy some gas and then give them a credit card, and then they would see wat really happens.
im the one
to funky: that is a cute idea but life isn’t so simple.
funky

This shtick goes on everywhere – it happened to a relative of mine in New Jersey not long ago. Be alert.
