News Sites Take a Break for Mivtzoim on Israeli Independence Day

For the first time since they were founded, the two flagship Chabad news websites in Israel – Shturem.net and Chabad Online (COL) – have gone offline for the day. The cause of the outage is not any sort of technical difficulty – but Mivtzoim!

Notices on both websites explain that their staff joined the hundreds of Chabad Chassidim across the country who are spending the Israeli Independence day – when most Israelis have off work and are out in the nation’s parks and recreational areas – to help their fellow Jews put on Tefilin and perform other Mitzvos.

The Campaign to do Mivtza Tefilin on Israeli national holidays has gained steam within the Chabad community in recent years, and each holiday more and more participate.
