Chabad Club at YU Sees Tremendous Success
Coming off a wildly successful year, the Chabad Club of Yeshiva University has already been seeing tremendous success and growth since the start of the new school year.
Coming off of a very strong year in which the club boasted more events than any other club and more students attending Chabad Club events than any other club, the club hopes to continue at this unprecedented pace.
Last year’s “Living the Legacy of the Rebbe and the Rav” program which showcased the special relationship between The Rebbe and Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik was wildly successful, had an audience of over seven hundred people and was the largest ever solely student run event on campus.
The program featured speeches by Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Rabbi Zevulun Charlop, RIETS Dean Emeritus, Rabbi YY Jacobson, Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Yeshiva University Mashpia, and Rabbi Dr. JJ Schacter, Senior Scholar, YU Center for the Jewish Future and University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought.
The Chabad Club features two weekly programs: the all new “User’s Manual for the Soul Weekly Tanya Shiur” and “Thursday Night Chassidus.”
The “User’s Manual for the Soul Weekly Tanya Shiur” is given by the renowned educator, lecturer and scholar, Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe. Rabbi Yaffe is the Dean of the Institute for American and Talmudic Law in NYC and the Institute for Judaic Knowledge in Newton, MA. This program is brand new and is part of an expansion project the Chabad Club has begun.
“Thursday Night Chassidus” is a program in which Bochurim from Oholei Torah travel over an hour each way by subway to YU every Thursday night to learn Sichos with YU students. This program has seen tremendous success and continually packs the Klein Beis Medresh at Yeshiva University. This program is a continuation of the years of small Shiurim given by students in 770 who were sometimes personally chosen by The Rebbe to come to YU.
In addition to the weekly programing, the Chabad Club provides a wide array of events including, Farbrengens, Shiurim, special programing, trips to the Ohel, Shabbatons, and more.
If anyone knows of any students in YU, please encourage them to attend the Chabad Club events.
