Living the Legacy of the Rebbe and the Rav

Over 700 people gathered Wednesday night at Yeshiva University’s Lamport Audtorium for an event titled ‘Living the Legacy of the Rebbe and the Rav,’ which explored the relationship between the Lubavitcher Rebbe and Rav Y. B. Soleveichik.

This monumental event featured an introduction from Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Mashpia in Yeshiva University and founding Morah d’Asrah of Congregation Aish Kodesh in Woodmere, NY.

The main speakers of the evening were Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought in Yeshiva University; Rabbi Yosef Y. Jacobson, one of the most sought after speakers in the Jewish world today and world renowned scholar of Chabad Chassidus; Rabbi Zevulun Charlop, dean emeritus of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary; and Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, personal secretary to the Lubavitcher Rebbe for over 40 years and Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and Machne Israel, the educational and social services arms of the Chabad-Lubavitch worldwide organization. Professor Lawrence Schiffman, Yeshiva University’s Vice-Provost, was the emcee.

People left the event marveling at the tremendous hatzlacha of the program and the massive kiddush Hashem it caused.

Chabad Club Director and YU Junior Danny Fordham commented: Hashem has clearly blessed us. The evening was a smashing success. The speakers were amazing and everyone was able to come out with our evening’s goal, as was stated in the concluding remarks: “We hope you learned something meaningful tonight that will last far beyond this evening. May we study, commit ourselves to, and live by, the Rebbe and the Rav’s legacies and thereby create the world that they envisioned.

The YU Chabad Club will have their year-end event this Thursday night, with a farbrengen with Rabbi Sholom Jacobson. The bochurim will learn about the history of the Rebbe’s sichos – which they have learned every Thursday night b’chevrusa with Oholei Torah bochurim, who travel over an hour each way every week to study with them.

The evening was sponsored by SOY-JSC and the YU Chabad Club.
