Runners Stop Mid-Race to Put on Tefilin

This Sunday was a big day for Australians as the “City 2 Surf” run took off with 81,000 runners. JEMS (Jewish Education Matters) was there too, manning two tables with water, cookies and Tefilin.

Over 50 JEMS parents and children came to help hand out water and cookies to the runners, and did a great job at that, with more then 5,500 cups of water and 3,000 cookies taken by the runners while running.

The Jewish runners were also offered to put on Tefilin, and even though they were being timed, dozens of runners stopped at the Tefilin booth to do a mitzvah for the soldiers in Israel.

A special thank you goes to all those who volunteered to help with preparing the cookies, giving out the water and manning the booths.
