Bochurim Spend a Week in Las Vegas

This past week, eight Bochurim were flown down to Las Vegas, Nevada as part of the Merkos Shlichus program to run Peulos by the different Shluchim in the area. They were split up between the different Chabad Centers in the area including the central area of Las Vegas, Summerlin, Green Valley and Chabad @ UNLV.

The Bochurim, Mendel Gerber, Avremi Goldman, Levi Gurevitz, Levi Harlig, Motti Harlig, Levi Sharfstein, Meir Thaler, and Avremi Zippel were split up between the different Chabad Centers in the area including the central area of Las Vegas, Summerlin, Green Valley and Chabad @ UNLV. The program was coordinated by Rabbi Shea Harlig, Director of Chabad of Southern Nevada.

From Monday and on, the Bochurim were in motion, running around, meeting with different Yidden in the area, and visiting with businessmen, elderly people in assisted living centers, Yidden in hospitals, and Israelis in different malls and shopping centers. The Bochurim were greeted by an overwhelming positive response everywhere they went, as all the people they encountered were more than happy to see them and interact with them.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the “Mini Yeshiva” which was run by the Bochurim every night of the week. Each night, from 7-9 p.m. the Bochurim set up by a different Chabad Center, and learned with the Baalei Batim from the area. Monday night at Chabad of Summerlin, with Rabbi Yisroel Schanowitz, Tuesday night at Chabad of Green Valley with Rabbi Mendy Harlig, Wednesday night at Chabad of Souther Nevada, with Rabbi Shea Harlig, and Thursday night at Chabad Hebrew Center with Rabbi Shmuel Attal. The program was B“H very Matzliach, as every night between 30-40 people piled into their local Chabad Center, some of them the first time they were attending any Chabad Peulo, to get the feel of learning one-on-one with a Chavrusa about the topic of their choice.

”I really enjoyed the Yeshiva experience“, said Dr. Rick Bernstein. ”The young bochur I studied with was impressive, I can see why students who apply themselves at Yeshiva are brilliant, I am looking forward for next weeks’ Yeshiva learning.”

After spending an inpiring Shabbos, farbrenging together with the Shluchim and Baalei Baatim, the Bochurim are excited to start the 2nd week of Merkos Shlichus and Yehiva learning.

    I have spent time in las Vegas for a convention,chabad’s presence is amazing! I’m sure the shluchim r taking great care of you all!

    Did the head Shliach ask Rabbi Cunin? Rabbi Cunin is the head shiach for californa and nevada!

    Rabbi Meir Harlig says that Rabbi Cunin’s head shliachness is only for the state of california, he should leave himself and his chovos out of nevada!!!
