NYC Likely to Dodge Brunt of Weekend Nor’easter Projected to Slam East Coast with Strong Winds, Flooding

The Big Apple will likely dodge the worst of a nor’easter expected to slam the East Coast this weekend — though conditions should improve by Monday, meteorologists said.

Heavy rains and wind gusts topping 50 mph will batter the Jersey Shore, eastern Long Island and the New England coast — veering east of New York City, AccuWeather’s Carl Erickson told The Post.

“Minor to moderate coastal flooding can occur, worst on Friday and Saturday, driven by sustained onshore winds combined with this Saturday’s full moon, which will push tides higher than normal,” said Erickson.
