Blue Ash, OH — With fighting intensifying between Israel and Hezbollah, many are vacating the Mideast country.

However, one Blue Ash resident recently left for Israel in a show of support for her country and people.

Chavi Mangel, the daughter of Rabbi Yisroel Mangel with the Chabad Jewish Center, traveled to Israel as part of a six-week educational tour of the country.

“My daughter said she wasn’t going to give (up on) a trip of this sort,” said Rabbi Mangel. “She said she wanted to go.

”Obviously we have some concerns, but we are proud she is going and that she has this love for the land.“

His daughter left for Israel July 16.

Chavi, 15, will travel with 45 other teenage girls from throughout the United States.

Mangel said portions of the tour have been revised based on the conflict.

”Obviously safety is everybody’s concern,“ he said.

Mangel said he spoke with his daughter by phone July 20.

”She said many Israelis have stopped (she and her peers) and thanked them for their show of support,“ Mangel said.

”She spoke about the beauty of the land and how parts of Israel are functioning the best they are able to under these difficult circumstances.“

Locally, Mangel said visitors to the Chabad Center do not see the battle as someone else’s concern.

”It’s wondering what we in Cincinnati can do to help,“ he said. ”We want to show them they are not alone.”

He said this is accomplished through prayer and positive deeds.

Why is Rabbi Mangel concerned? The Rebbe said that Eretz Yisroel is the safest place in the world. That means even safer than Blue Ash, OH.

  • safe???

the rebbe said eretz yisroel is the safest place but he said it at a certain time – who said this applies to now?
