Dryer Fire Sets Kitchen Ablaze

A fire broke out in a Montgomery Street apartment Tuesday evening, forcing the evacuation of a portion of the building. Quick response by the fire department prevented the fire from damaging additional apartments.

The fire broke out at around 4:45pm in the kitchen of a top floor apartment in 836 Montgomery Street. Rescue officials told CrownHeights.info that the fire began in a dryer that was in the kitchen.

Fire fighters were on scene within minutes and had the fire contained quickly, preventing it from spreading throughout the building.

Due to extremely cold weather fire fighters had problems with fire hydrants that were frozen shut. Out of five that they tried using four failed and had to be shut down from the street.

the 11th picture of the fireman assisting the elderly woman with her shopping carriage over the water-hose, reminds me of the picture of the officer putting on new boots on the homeless,,,,
