Several cars driving through the blizzard last night, Sunday burst into flames. The cars got stuck in the snow and tried to accelerate their way out of the snow.
These drivers overworked their engines and their cars overheated, bursting into flames.
In one incident, on St Johns between Kingston and Albany Ave, emergency service vehicles who responded to the fire, got stuck and abandoned their vehicles in middle of the street.
In all of the incidents the driver and passengers where able to make it out of the vehicle. There were no injuries.

NY is not used to this deluge of snow.
it is not prepared for blizzardess conditions bc in NY it is rare
most available trucks to plough are probably taking care of the city first, etc.
there is a priority list.
p.s. i have seen ploughs. seemed like they could only do the initial work.
when they can they will clean up more.

It’s first time that I see next day after snow storm that streets are absolutely not clean, public buses stuck, no car passing… It’s after 3pm and no cleaning garbage trucks to be seen.

If they don’t clean up the streets then people won’t be able to move their cars and then Bloomberg can give them tickets for not moving their cars for alternate side parking and when a car gets stuck he can ticket them for double parking.

There is a rumor of a Sanitation slowdown becuase of the large number of workers that were fired by the City due to the economy…
What is surprising is that all those oversized and overpriced SUVs unable to climb their way out of the snow…all the $$$ and they’re STILL stuck!!!
