Early Morning Fire Evacuates Building

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A fire destroyed two apartments and damaged others this morning forcing the evacuation of all its occupants. The fire broke out in the basement of 1625 President Street, an apartment building with 44 residential units located at the corner of Schenectady Avenue, and quickly extended into two apartments on the first floor, the fire broke out at around 6:45am.

Residents were seen exiting the front of the building coughing from smoke inhalation while others made their way down fire escapes. The buildings only Jewish residents, two couples were seen standing outside and watching firefighters battle the blaze.

The fire was deemed under control after nearly 30 minutes of fighting the fire, and thank g-d there were no serious injuries reported. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear and the fire marshals were ordered to investigate.

  • Report open hydrants!

    B“H

I had ”311″-ed an open hydrant (that no one was even enjoying; just wasting water!) the morning before (Sunday), right across the street (at 1620-22).
I hope the fireman had enough water pressure on that block.

Folks, we all know it’s hot, but if you see that a hydrant has been opened, report it to 311. It’s important for everyone’s protection!

First of all, no one asked your opinion on what people should be asking and not and second they probably have nothing more substantial to do and third, I think asking why do people comment when they have nothing of value to say is the stupidest and most not nice thing to ask, and is of even lesser value than that of any other question up there.. and fourth, regarding all being creations of hashem.. do you have any siblings? or kids? i hope so.. if not then parents lets say.. if you saw pictures of a building on fire and read that it was on president, while you knew your family (siblings, parent, or children) lived on that same block, wouldn’t they be your first concern? that’s the way all yidden are to each other, and should start acting the part.. and if you ask me, i am rather very happy that someone posed the question, shows a lot more ahavas yisroel than saying we are all the eibishters creations.
Just something to keep in mind.. we love you anyways!
