BDE: Dr. Allan Plaut, 75, OBM
With great sadness we report the passing of Dr. Asher (Allan) Plaut OBM, a longtime and beloved pediatrician who served the Crown Heights community for more than 40 years. He passed away on Shabbos, the 8th of Tishrei 5787, following a short illness.
He was 75 years old.
Dr. Plaut was widely known throughout Crown Heights for his dedicated medical care and personal connection to the families he served. He maintained his pediatric practice on Kingston Avenue for decades, becoming a familiar and trusted figure to generations of Crown Heights children and their parents.
His commitment to the community was also recognized publicly. In December 2018, Dr. Plaut received a citation from New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton honoring his service to the Crown Heights community.
Dr. Plaut was a graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where he received his medical degree in 1977, and was board certified in pediatrics. He was affiliated with several New York-area hospitals during his medical career.
Dr. Plaut was a resident of Lawrence, New York. He is survived by his wife, Dina, children, and grandchildren.
The Levaya will take place on Sunday, 9:30am at Rabbi Blumencranz shul at 8-27 Cornaga Ave, Far Rockaway, Bais Medrash Ateres Yisroel.
Shiva information to be announced.
