Apple Bank Robber Keeps Coming Back for More

The man who robbed the Albany Ave. branch of Apple Bank on October 12 has been coming back to rob the same bank time and again for almost two years, police say.

Police are looking for a man suspected of robbing two Brooklyn Apple Banks a combined four times since early last year.

Officers say the suspect is a six-foot-tall black male with a graying beard who is probably between 40 and 60 years old and between 150 and 200 pounds (and based on that description alone, could almost literally be anyone).

The spree started on February 1, 2011, when he walked into an Apple Bank (not to be confused with the trillion-dollar-to-be company) on 318 Albany Avenue in Crown Heights. He entered just after noon, walked up to the front counter, surreptitiously pulled out a gun, and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. When the teller brought him an undisclosed sum of cash, he fled the scene on foot.

Six days later, wearing a similar beige trench coat and using the same tactic, he robbed a bank at the Apple Bank on 414 Flushing Avenue in Bed-Stuy.

For one reason or another, though, he took a liking to the Crown Heights location, and in late June last year, he again entered the bank around noon and robbed it.

The NYPD lost the man’s trail for well over a year until two Fridays ago, just after noon on October 12. He visited Apple Bank in Crown Heights for a third time because, at this point, it’s like his personal ATM. The suspect flashed his gun, passed the note, collected his booty, and went on his merry way. He hasn’t been seen since.

    the 2 doors should be bullet proof and then the tellers have a button to automaticaly lock it that while the robber is there it gets locked and the cops can catch him

    Based on the crime shows I watched, all they need to do is take the picture of his face and match it against afis and the interpol databases, then cross reference all flights into new york and trains coming into ny for the days around the robberies and see which passengers came in at all those there times, and then narrow it down to blacks ages 30-60 and then see who has relatives near crown heights and bingo! you got your man and 43 minutes of a tv show.

    and then we discover that the whole robbery was just a diversion against someone dumping toxic waste into the subway..

    sounds mishandled to me
    but when that robber is caught, they better hold on to him for maximum time.
