Photos: R’ Yaakov Elberg Accompanied to Final Rest

Over a thousand members of the Crown Heights community gathered in front of 770 Sunday morning to pay their respects to Rabbi Yaakov Elberg, OBM, and accompany him toward his final resting place in Queens.

Reb Yaakov passed away on Shabbos at the age of 76.

Born in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia, Reb Yaakov moved to the United States, where he was successful in his business endeavors. He eventually settled in Crown Heights, and utilized his successes to give a lot of Tzedaka and support many Jewish institutions.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, and children: Reb Eliyahu Elberg of Queens, NY;Reb Reuvain Elberg of Crown Heights, Mrs. Tamar Pewsner of Cederhust, NY andReb Sholom Elberg of Queens, NY; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will be sitting Shiva at 1281 Carroll St. [between Brooklyn and New York Aves.] in Crown Heights.

    Are you certain this was 1,000 people? I hope so, because R’ Elberg deserved it. It unfortunately doesn’t look so from the pictures here.
