Young Entrepreneurs Learn Valuable Lessons

On Tuesday evening, a special talk at the Besht Center empowered and inspired young Crown Heightsers on the path to success. Not merely a lecture, the evening gave aspiring businessmen the chance to speak to accomplished entrepreneurs and network with fellow visionaries – many of whom have successfully gone through the same challenges of starting a business.

The event, a project of Rabbi Yehoshua Werde, was the first of a series of monthly meetings as part of the new Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE) program. Launched with the goal of empowering the youth of Crown Heights, CHYE seeks to foster start-up culture and entrepreneurial excellence among its members.

Tuesday’s event featured advice and strategy from Mr. Dudi Farkash, followed by a question and answer session. Farkash, a Senior Partner at BFG Financial, saw the event as a valuable tool for those looking to enter the business world.

“My biggest passion is to see the young people in our community that wish to enter the world of business take their aspirations to the next level.”

Bentzy Plotkin is one of the many young professionals who attended Tuesday’s event. “As someone who’s begun to enter the professional world, the idea of competing against people with MBAs and specialized training can be daunting,” he said.

Nevertheless, Plotkin hopes that by combing the “chutzpa” and “Lubavitcher spunk” gained from the to-do shlichus mentality and skills, such as those presented by CHYE, he’ll arm himself with tools for success.

Also participating was an organization based in the city that offers free services to help kick off startups in Jewish communities.

Farkash sees the skills gained in yeshivah as the biggest asset Lubavitcher youth have as well. “I left the yeshivah system at 17,” Farkash says. “But instead of turning to the street, I decided to become a role-model of success for my family and friends.”

When entering the business world, Farkash saw that the kabbolos ol and integrity he learned in yeshivah to be the key element in his success. He hopes that these ideas, as addressed by the session, helped attendees unlock their true business potential.

It’s all about EDUCATION! These young people should be pushing for the years spent in yeshivah to assist them with the skills so desperately needed in life. No need to let the cycle continue for the next generation.

This looks great! But what about female Entrepreneurs in our community? We could use a CHYE,too.

Many of those in attendance seem to think that they need to trim their beards to be successful. The most important thing you can learn from Dudi Farkash is that he wears a full beard and is never the less a successful businessman.
See the many letters were the Rebbe attributes success in business to growing ones beard.
