Fire Blazes Through Montgomery St. Home

Crown Heights [CHI] — A fire broke out this afternoon in a Jewish home on Montgomery Street. Firefighters responded within minutes, and had the fire under control soon thereafter. Thank G-d the family managed to escape safely and no one was hurt.

According to firefighters, the fire caught on to the walls and began extending to the attached home, requiring them to cut them open in order to prevent further damage.

The blaze was apparently caused by a clothes dryer.

  • Danger , Plastic dryer vent hose

Every homeowner must Change the white plastic dryer Vent hose for the new approved metal one ,Pace hardware on Empire and Brooklyn sells the safe vent hose
Any lint collecting inside the dryer will catch fire, a gas dryer has a Real flame in a burner housing this fire can expand by igniting the lint accumulated inside igniting the plastic vent hose extending the fire to the living quaters .
Make sure the Dryer does not crimp the vent hose at any time , the vent must be lint free all the time

  • plastic hose should be fine...

make sure to change the dryer hose often enough!
Does the lint not collect in the metal one?

  • Thanks #1

Good advice, I’ll make sure to do that. How easy is it to change the hose? It goes into the roof. Do i need a plumber or handyman?

  • Anonymous Crown Heights Rebbe is Alive

I know the person who lives next door. He is a Tzadik and the people who live there should thank Hashem for stopping the fire from getting worse and causing more damage in his zechus. I will not say his name because he is an “Anav.”
    Baruch Hashem!

  • #2, dont give unqualified answers

    Answer to #2
    No
Plastic vent hose will burn where as a metal vent tube will not burn past the unit .
the lint will burn it self out inside the metal vent hose
the plastic will continue to burn and melt
