Kingston Ave. Subway Station: Anti-Semitic Graffiti and Rude MTA Attendant

Last night, a Crown Heights couple noticed a great deal of anti-Semitic graffiti on a Kingston subway bench. They went to report it to the station attendant on their way home, and mentioned that there had been similar stuff in the exact same spot about a month ago.

The lady in the booth started screaming at the husband for lying to her, saying that it had been cleaned up by her supervisor. After 5+ minutes of her yelling, the wife went over to talk to her, but before she could say a word the attendant began screaming at her to stay out of it.

After she wouldn’t give her name, the couple wrote down her badge number. When she saw what they were doing, she ripped it out of the window, stood up and started banging on the glass window at them.

The husband then went to the police truck outside 770 and reported it to the Officers. They gave him the phone number for this district’s transit police, and he spoke to a detective. The detective was very helpful and sent him to the district commander who told them to wait for the police cruiser that she was sending immediately.

While they were waiting, he ran downstairs to inform the MTA employees that the police were coming and that they should not removed the graffiti yet.

The police arrived (an officer and a Sergeant) and went downstairs to the Manhattan bound platform, where they found a custodian vigorously trying to remove the graffiti. She was instructed repeatedly to stop (by the officers), which she refused to do until her supervisor told her to.

The police took photos and recorded exactly what had been written. They then informed their and he also came to observe the graffiti. He promised that he would refer the case to the Hate Crimes Squad.

The couple told Crownheights.info that throughout the entire ordeal, all of the officers involved were extremely helpful and polite. The same most definitely cannot be said about the MTA employees.

This witch probably did it. She needs to be reassigned to Harlem. There she’ll get shot and/or robbed.

  • I guess things have not changed

About 40 years ago as a teenager after shabbos went into that very train station and tried to pay with a 10 dollar bill, the attendant had a anti-semitic fit . “ you people that, you people this”, I guess things have not changed .

I commend the couple for doing what they did. A lot of people would just walk away and do nothing.

as a last act, perhaps they can print out this article and slip it to the woman in the booth???
