Shabbos Robberies Being Investigated as Hate Crime

A series of Friday night robberies targeting Jewish men is now being investigated as a possible hate crime by the NYPD.

by CrownHeights.info

Three Jewish men were targeted in attempted knife-point robberies over a Friday night some two weeks ago, now the NYPD is investigating these incidents as possible hate crimes since all the victims were visibly Jewish and no other victims came forward.

In all the incidents the ‘would-be’ robber walked away empty handed and none of the victims were assaulted.

One of the attempted robberies took place on Crown Street just off Brooklyn Avenue, and the victim reported it to Shomrim and the NYPD. Shomrim scoured the area only to learn that after Shabbos two additional victims came forward.

The following Shabbos police stepped up patrol in the area, and there have not been any other such attempts since.

I’m not sure how that makes it possible hate crimes, since those he tried to rob had no money, so obviously he couldn’t take anything, and B”H he didn’t harm them.

Nice to see that these attacks are being taken seriously .
Now they just need to find the perp and actually have him do time, and not send him home to Mama.

Though I didn’t major in logic in college, I did learn about the elements of a hate crime in law school – the crime has to be motivated by hate – and it’s “doe-chek” to find that here. He found out that they had no money and he (B”H) left them alone. He’s simply an idiot. Someone whose motivation was hate would not be expected to simply leave his victims alone after getting no money.
Let’s save the hate crime accusations for when they are sincerely needed.

Either it’s a hate crime or a stupidity crime to repeatedly rob Jews on Shabos and not get it…
