Tire Thieves Strike Again
Another Vehicle has been robbed of its tires in Crown Heights, this time an SUV parked on President St. between Albany and Troy. This is the fifth time this summer thieves have made off with a car’s tires.
These thefts are unfortunately becoming quite frequent. Thieves show up on a deserted street in the middle of the nights, often while it’s raining, and within seconds strip the wheels of a car, leaving it suspended on bricks or cinder blocks.
The tires are then sold to auto repair shops for a hefty sum in cash.
To avoid being victimized, it would be wise to install wheel locks on your car. While they may not be tamper-proof, they will likely cause thieves to pass over your car for an easier target.
If you see any suspicious activity please immediately call 911 or Shomrim at 718-774-3333. Please try to get the license plate number of the perpetrators, as they will likely be gone by the time anyone arrives.
