Stumbling and Bumbling: Police Have No Record of the Brutal Assault

This is how the NYPD fights crime, by have no record of it! It seems that being taken away by ambulance after a brutal beating and calling 911 is not enough for the cops to hear about an incident in which police officers actually responded to. CrownHeights.info has learned that more than four days after the incident took place neither the local precinct, nor the Patrol Borough of Brooklyn South have any idea that this crime took place.

According to the victim’s mother, the police were present at the scene of the incident on Monday night, and the same police officers later arrived at Kings County Hospital to interview the victim.

But the police department says that they have no record of the attack.

Batya Breindel of the Community Council asked our reporter if he had any information on the victim since the police had no report or record of a 911 call. She said that “the police said they are trying to find out, that they have no report, and they are trying to check 911calls, and there were no calls made. Tthey tried to check the hospital, and they couldn’t find, so they are trying to make more phone calls, they called Hatzalah, but they said maybe EMS took them, so they are trying to make more phone calls to find out.” Breindel added that “They don’t even know that it happened. They know nothing about it.”

“It appears that until [CrownHeights.info] reported that this incident took place it appears no one but the victim and his family knew that it even happened” said a spokesperson for the news website, adding “that if we hadn’t reported on this incident it would probably have been swept under the rug.”

As this story was being prepared for publication A source in the police department told us that just now the 71st precinct had managed to get in touch with the mother of the victim.

This show of incompentence by NY’s worst is worthy of a media Blitz showcasing how our version of the Keystone cops are sleeping on the job as our community comes under assault from these animals — The animals are running the Zoo !!!

  • this is nuts!

This is crazy! Unresponsible police! Someone shouled get this to the news!!

  • Union and Troy

    Dear NYPD,

This corner — Union and Troy — has a bustling drug trade. I live nearby and see drug deals happening ALL THE TIME. Every day and night (I’m not exaggerating).

I don’t know where to call, so I hope you read this comment.

give them some slack it was a honest mistake they thought it was the usual low level crime ones that they threw out

they are downgrading crime complaints to keep crime down, thats why they refuse to take some reports, and thats why they take take over an hour to get to a call, you guys should check out officer adrian schoolcraft story, an officer who was punished for reporting crime being downgrading in the 81st police station, you can read about it in the village voice, we should all contact the department of justice to investigate the nypd

I just found out about this last night from a family member.. he is friends with the victim.. They didnt want to make the story public, but they did more damage that way.
    From what I understand
    1. He was beaten
    2. they pulled gun on him

I think its reckless when the community is not told about it.

  • Goodbye Peter Simonetti

Time for inspector Peter Simonetti of the 71 precinct to go!!!

    goodbye

  • We need to take back our -hood!

    Go to the media.

    Go to Commissioner Kelly.

Go to Chuckie “where’s the camera???” Schumer.

Make as much noise as you can, but don’t go to the CHJCC. They hushed it up.

  • Blame Bloomberg-s Data-Driven System

This is how the precincts “look good” in Bloomberg’s data-driven system of evaluation. The fewer records of crime, the fewer crimes that exist in the precinct. So it makes the police look more successful than they really are, at keeping crime figures low.

How do certain people sleep at night and look themselves in the mirror?

  • Crown Heights Cover-Up?

The Difference between 2008 and now 2011:

    http://onebigcholent.com/20

Ma Neshtana? What changed? Why aren’t the same people (self appointed “community leaders”), rising up and protesting as they did in 2008?

  • Horrified longtime resident

This is really appalling. We all know about the need for local precincts to show good crime stats to their superiops but this really goes beyond what is acceptable.

  • cant belive it

keep up the good work. this is the only thing they corrupt 71st understnd. brakes my hart

  • CUT THE BALONEY!

Cut the baloney (for lack of the proper expression). everyone knows that the police in crown heights are hopeless and uselss. but why isn’t Briendel and the rest of the supposedly helpful council being a heck of a lot more proactive in doing something about this. Instead of excusing the stupid cops. I was a witness to a car accident that took place on Montgomery st. and New York ave. and personally went to the adjacent police station to report the accident and try to get some help only to be told there are no available cops around. the cops finally showed up a half hour later after the injured child had already left to the hospital with Hatzalah. the council is even more guilty than the police, because they are (supposedly) there to help us – their fellow Jews but in fact do as much as the police!!! I spoke to the boy who was beaten to the point of needing staples in the back of his head, plastic surgery to his face, with multiple bruises on his cheek and nose. WHY THE H_ _ _ ISN’T THE COUNCIL RAISING HELL WITH THE POLICE AND BLOOMBERG’S OFFICE???????????????

Our only option is to go directly to the media. Do not bother going to our local precinct. Take pictures and go straight to the press. I can almost assure you the police will come begging that we report everything to them and leave the media out of it.

  • Raise the roof!

I agree! This should not be ignored. If an attack as brutal as this does not seem important enough for them what will be?

I think that it would be doing the community a big favor to make a big deal about this!

Police should be required to give a copy of the report to victims at the time the report is taken. The report should include the cops’ names and should be signed by the cop and the victim. However, this would not help in some cases (not like this one) when an officer refuses to take a report. The city should stop trying to collect crime figures and start trying to fight real crime.

Bloomberg must go!. since he took office crime has mushroomed and life has become unbearable for many residents of this city. the savages are running loose with impunity. all the crime fighting apparatus instituted by Giuliani have now been nixed under Bloomberg. Bloomberg must go!

  • Respect Please

While the police may be downplaying the crime rate in our neighborhood, they are still servicing our community, and we owe the precinct some respect. There is definitely room for their improvement, but we must keep in mind that they help us in many ways, i.e. they come to Simchas Beis and various other Jewish events, and they still come when we call 911, even if they don’t file a report. Therefore, if anyone feels the need to publically bash them, please do so politely.
