  • Oh, no!

I’m officially embarrassed. Totally and completely mortified. Theses people are our guests??? These drunken crazies?!? My goodness, what does that say about us?

  • deport them all

Serves him right. Being drunk is not an excuse for assaulting anyone & if you’re stupid enough to hit a cop, you are in deep trouble.

So now this becomes our problem? Uh-huh. Think again. It’s HIS problem. At this point I really don’t care about Pidyon Shevuim. I reserve that for deserving cases, not idiots who do it to themselves.

Just out of curiosity is the Bochur American, Israeli, or French?

  • c.h. res

i wouldnt want him to go to jail but a good couple hours community service wouldnt hurt and maybe teach him not to behave like a chayo

  • Dina

o.k. everyone before start spewing – these Israelis – “someone has to teach them a lesson….”be Dan Lakaf zecot

  • Shlomo

A perfect reason for reigning in Simchas Beis HaShoevah, an event that should never have been permitted to go on until 6:00 AM.

What with street drinking a care free attitude, the Police do themseleves a disservice letting this go on and on. Do it in front of 770 or inside.

  • to shlomo and others

“ that should never have been permitted to go on until 6:00 AM.”
for your knowledge the rebbe himself wanted ppl to dance the whole night.
now however you are right they should cut it down for a number of reasons
    1 pritsuz
    2 chiliul hashem
    3 chilul lubavitch
4 kids roaming the streets doing stuff the parents never dreamt of( i can personaly testify to this as i live on crown and kingston)
    ect ect ect
the list goes on but as i know that “fremede” ppl(including chabad house ppl) also read this site- i will stick just to these. and for the fremde (foreigners) please look only at the good things even the things that might seem bad you’ll never undrstand untill you live in ch so for the bad stuff look in your own comunity

    thanks

  • Katcha

This is the story for the Israeli Bochor. A good kid from Israel, who comes to NY to be disobedient and rebellious. They do the dirty work here, and they go back to Israel and back to Yeshiva. While we have that stain. The Police officers look at the Israeli bochor, not as an ISRAELI boy, From ISRAEL, but just a JEW, and our name will definitely be bashed a bit because of what he did. No doubt about it, solution? A few parents in the neighborhood should get together to fix this, and a miracle.

  • CH Imma

You hit a cop… go directly to jail.
Being drunk is NOT an excuse. “Nichnes Yayin Yotze Sod.” In goes the wine out comes the secrets.

Isn’t anyone else sick of people in our community, residents and guests alike, “overindulging”/getting drunk in the name of Farbrengen?! Making L’chaim after L’chaim doesn’t make the Farbrengen any more spiritual. Getting drunk is not chassidishe. It is taking something that is being used for kedusha and making it te’umah.

Enough of the public Simchat Beit Hashoeivah.. Put them into Shuls like they are doing in Israel..

  • l-chaim

If you drink like a Bihayma (animal) then you will be one (when you have one two many).
If you drink like a Nefesh Elokise I.e. you hear a good word by a Farbrangen that really touches you and you say l’chaim then you should be o.k. (of course you must still stay within the limits that the Rebbe has put in to place.
    One sin brings to another.
    One Mitzva brings to another.

Sometimes you do something that you don’t know if it was the right thing to do or not.
    When will you find out?
If later you do something that you really know to be a sin or Mitzva with out a doubt.

    Another thing:
There is never an excuse to throw food, hit somebody/slap, destroy property, and scream in the streets like a maniac (even if it’s a Chassidic niggun) etc… all in the name of getting drunk by a farbrengen. If you can’t Halt Cup (hold your head) don’t drink! (say l’chaim on water).

  • I-m angry & sick & tired of stupid ppl.

A lot of Bochurs were picking fights with people while dancing when they were high or drunk, this was waiting to happen, its probably gone happen again sadly, AND HOW DO THEY GET THEIR HANDS ON ALCOHOL ANYWAY????? whoever gave it to them is stupid, and even in Israel, I believe your taught NOT to hit a cop, this is one of those things someones gonna hide from their parents for the rest of their life.

  • once again bernie

do not blame all the israelis for this any normal person (beleive it or not even israelis) would not hit a cop this guy was probaly nuts

  • GROW UP!!!

omg, seriously all you people are really bored! stop, stop venting out all your opinions on the bochurim–its not gonna stop them from coming!! they are allowed to come to crown heights the same way you can live in crown heights. if they get drunk etc, its their problem not yours! enough is enough! grow up everyone! they’ve been coming year after year, and they have every right to come! to get drunk and slap a police officer, of course that wrong…but from all the responses, it sounds like you’re all happy that a fellow jew is arrested, a jew is a jew, no matter what he does!

  • upset

    1. send them all back home!

    2. we have to make a public apology to the police dept!

    3. simchas bais Needs to be moved indoors! it has become nothing more than a disturbance to many people and residents including jews

  • resident

I feel the saddest issue is that no one who are the “leaders” of Crown Heights acts responsibily. Our neighborhood has turned into the Titanic, on the night it sank.

Everyone makes fun of litvish rabbaim for cancelling events when things get out of hand….but guess what…it is never taken to this level…the brakes are put on it. Maybe yes, these Rabbis could learn tanya, but maybe putting the brakes on it is a good thing

I would like one member of the Community Council or whatever to get on this site and explain why these Israeli kids needs to come with a bracha from “ANASH” I would like one of the rosh yeshivahs of 770 to get and explain why punk gang behavior is ok with Israeli bochurim and gets the yeshivah’s haskamah, like it did after the shluchim convention last year.

I would like some of the mashpiam to explain why it is more important to dance all night and promote promoscuity and Greenwhich Village living, with a side of drugs on the street than to preserve a chassidishe environment

  • ????

a big chilul hashem and lubavitch. and now people wonder why moshiach is still not here!

  • not from ny

its crazy how ur all such sterioutipes! not all isrealies are like that. so ther are some who come for tishrea but now their all crazy and come to ny for their dirty work? listen to ur selves!!!

  • DEPORT

    BS“D

Can you spell DEPORTATION? That would send a very powerful message to the entire community – a message that needs to be heard.

Askanim should arrange for his immediate return to E”Y – there is a flight that leaves on Motzoei Shabbos at 11.30 PM.

  • BigBen

Stop the bleeding now. Move Simchas Bais HaShoeiva indoors (in 770 or O.T.). The Rebbe never intended this kind of “joy and celebration”.
We are only hurting ourselves and our children by letting this disaster to proceed in an uncontrolled environment.

  • DISGUSTING!!!!

YOU KNOW WHAT PEOPLE?? YOUR JUST ALL BEING NASTY AND DISGUSTING! FIRST OF ALL, IN ANY EVENT THAT PEOPLE MAKE, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. THIS LITTLE INCIDENT HAPPENED OBVIOUSLY NOT ON PURPOSE, AS STATED THE KID WAS DRUNK! DONT TELL ME YOU HAVNT SEEN PEOPLE DRUNK NOT DOING STUPID THINGS.

MAYBE HE SHOULDNT HAVE DRANK AT ALL AND NO ONE SHOULD’VE GIVEN HIM ALCHOHOL BUT GUESS WHAT? THATS NOT OUR BUSINESS! SECOND OF ALL, WHATS IF IT WERE YOU? WOULD YOU WANT THE WHOLE WORLD TALKING ABOUT YOU ONLINE AND EVERYWHERE SAYING THAT YOUR CRAZY AND YOU SHOULD BE SENT BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM?? THATS DISGUSTING!

AND LOOKS LIKE ALL YOU HAVE BLIND EYES UNLESS YOU SIMPLY JUST DONT CARE, B/C IT IS PURE LASHON HARAH!!!

    THINK ABOUT IT!

  • NOT A WAY TO TREAT THE ORCHIM

TO: “WHY ARE THE ISREALIS IN CH?” ITS VERY SIMPLE, BEACOUSE THE REBBE WANTED THEM HERE, ITS EMBARASING HOW YOU GUYS SPEEK ABOUT THE ORCHIM, THE REBBE WAS NEVER SATISFYED WITH HOW THE ORCHIM WORE TREATED! THESE COMENTS ARE DISCRASEFULL.

  • Pesachya Herskovits

“for your knowledge the rebbe himself wanted ppl to dance the whole night.”

could you provide a source for that?

  • OBSERVER

TO: NOT A WAY TO TREAT ORCHIM. YOU WOULD BE RIGHT IF THE ORCHIM REMAIN ORCHIM. IT SEEMS THE ORCHIM HAVE BECOME THE BALHABATIM.

  • Facts

    Lets set the record strait.
In the early 80s they began dancing in the nights of sukkos, it came to the Rebbe’s att. and he was very happy from it. The Rebbe was very happy that there be dancing, and davka in “rechovo shel Ir”.
The bachur who commited this crime was actualy (guess what) amarican. His first anitle is Y. and he grew up and live of Crown st. You at CHI are always lookng for a way and chance to bash the orchim, who were moser nefesh a whole lot to spend these few weeks in chatzros kodsheinu.
    Stop the hate and lies

  • CH imma

Most of the posters are simply disgusted and plain old fed up by the behavior of some of our “orchim”.
We are tired of having to hear the complaints from the other people living in this neighborhood about the horrible behavior of these supposed orchim. As well as the bad reputation it gives those of us that actually live here.
Orchim do not disrespect their hosts’ house.
While not all of our visitors are at fault, there is a large group that is and thereby giving the rest a bad reputation.

Assaulting a New York Police Officer is a crime.. A felony if I am not mistaken.
No one is happy or pleased that this Bochur was arrested! Chas VeShalom! It is a sad and unfortunate consequence of his actions.

Yes “DISGUSTING”, you are right.. At any event things can happen.. But why are these things ALWAYS happening here? At OUR events? Why are bochrim getting drunk in the name of Farbrengen? As G-d fearing Jews, we have a responsibility to act in a manner that is appropriate! That includes not getting drunk! and watching out for friends to make sure they are safe as well!

Why should I, a woman, have to see frum men using cars, walls, trees and any other place they feel like as impromptu urinals?
Why should my children and other families’ children, have to see Jewish people acting inappropriately in the streets of our Heilige community?

How are you, my dear friend going to explain this to YOUR children? Somehow I don’t think.. “The bochur made a little mistake” is going to cut it!

  • Simchas Beis in the streets of CH

The fact is that the Rebbe mentioned and demanded that Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebrations (dancing) should be in the street “rishus harabim” etc. until “de gass vet eichet tansen”.
As well, the Rebbe inqired on how SBH went the previous night and was pleased to hear about it being lebedik in the streets (in a positive manner, obviously).
The Rebbe too gave special attention (yechidus, mention, welcome) etc. to the orchim.
There is a lot of hefkeirus that must be dealt with but not the way it is being discussed here online.

  • cal

This kid will be LUCKY if he receives three years for assaulting a police officer. Assuming this is his first offense, he is still facing hard time. I assume that once he gets bail (if he gets it), he will pack his bags and flee back the the Holy Land skipping the trial.

  • anash guy

We get what we deserve. In no other
frum community on the face of the globe would such hefkeirus be tolerated. Instead of being a kiddush lubavitch, this annual disgrace of alcohol, drugs, and pritzus has frum jews everywhere shaking their heads in disbelief at what goes on here.

  • Joe the plumber

the SB”H is somehting that has been duscussed for years.

on the one hand all these kids, and pritzus, and wild micshichistim, on the other the rebbe had great nachas to hear that people danced all night long in the streets, [see sichos fro sukkos the rebbe really was into this thing.

    My solution,

I would start by putting up 4 large spot lights on the corners of crown carroll, along with 5 live feeding webcams that are being recorded.

We will view this footage and do a study if these kids are locals of outside trublemakers who don;t even understad that there is anything wrong with boys and girls mixing and talking.

Depending on the outcome of the study, if they are our kids, we should go to the kids parents, thoug the principles of the schools If it is israelies, they should be put on a list that drizin won’t pay for them to come back next year, again, the parents of these boys and girls are to be notified. {poolr parents think thier children are coming for hiskashrus reasons, but the kids have another kind of hiskashrus in mind,]

lastly perhaps to have only 2 baracased [channesls] that seperate the men and woman, and the channels should go up to president street, there should be an enternace into the channels each block, and kolel yungelite to volenteer to ensure that men go into the ens side and woman go into thier own channel.

    Just a thought.

  • Dina

    big American Tzadikim are speaking
come come all to Geula in Jerusalem and see for your self how the polite and well educated American Bacurim behave ….

    confused crown heightser

  • Equality

for all those who are excusing the bochur’s disgusting behavior, think about this. if the same thing was posted and just the title was changed to “African American Assaults Police Officer” would HIS behavior have been excused? All of us, lubavitchers, litvaks, blacks, chinese, we are all part of the same thing we call humanity. and we are all equally responsible for our actions!! in the same vein, an american bochur and israeli bochur are totally EQUAL!!!!!!

  • ENOUGH OF THE CROWN HEIGHTS BS

Does anyone realize that in the “Hahnasat Orchim” house on Kingston that is not even done there are boys sleeping there. The only reason why I know this because when I looked out of my window from my house I saw kids on a hard and cold concrete floor sleeping away. Also the huge pick-up dumpster outside 770? There are kids in there also. THEY DO NOT BELONG HERE if they are going to behave. My minyon that I have prayed in for the last 15 years… we had a fight with an Israeli bochur who thought that we were davening too long. Honestly I told him in English (which of course he does not speak) that if he does not like the singing he should find another minyon. Also these kids all they do is make the community dirty, and even more disorganized. You want a light on the corner of Corner of Kingston and Crown, there is already one. The majority of the kids are OUR kids. This is a fact!!! Everyone goes around and complains that oh its that its this. GET UP AND DO SOMETHING HAVE A RALLY SPEAK. REACH OUT TO PARENTS.

  • roitza beylum shem

    to erets israel:
we are not talking just about behavior
we are also talking about the fact that your kids come here by the 1,000’s and expect us to house and feed them for a month, that is called taking advantage of the crown heighters. and when we send our children we have to pay tavin vetakilin for them and where is achnosas horchim then? we have a lot of achnosas horchim please at least show some mentshlachkeit thank you.

  • Edit your comments

If you can please censer your comments. Especially the one by “ENOUGH OF THE CROWN HEIGHTS…” he thinks he will be a good influence on our community, yet he writes like a goy…

  • gosh!

    oh mine!
look at the good side of simchas beis hashoeva too. there are lots of people dancing and its very nice.
Who r u to decide to stop it, end it earlier, or make it indoors??
p.s. the real simchas beis hashoeva is from 4-6. thats when everyone who is there, is there to dance. It’s beautiful.

  • guli (shomrim )

ben i agree with u…. u right it can happens to each one of us …. but its still crazy to do that!!! thats y the americans dont like when tishri comes!! its amazing to see this simcha but….i todally do not agree to hit a cop!! the cops in crown h doing an amazing job with the shomrim and ppl how comes here to not more then 30 days dont know that and not even care…. i anderstand the bochur… but i dont agree with whtever hi did!!!

  • Jacob

the problem is that the most of those israelim, are low income people. they neve leave israel and think that brooklyn is the same as in the 80t movies..
in the last time i was in 770 i was shocked!!! jewish bochurim smoking pot in simchas beis hashoeva, behaving like kushim… Im sure that was not the Rebbe rotzon

I don’t know how those children parents leave them travel to a foreing country without any supervision.
is not only his fault, is also his parents fault that don’t teach him how to behave.
