Shomrim “save woman’s life” in Domestic Violence Incident

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — An enraged man struck a woman in the back of her head then proceeded beating on her, until a passing Shomrim member intervened. The Shomrim member witnessing the assault called for backup and then pulled the man off the woman, and the area immediately flooded with numerous Shomrim members who held the man at bay while waiting for police, who arrived shortly after and arrested the man.

The two, both Hispanic, were apparently in a relationship and lived together for a period of time, but according to the woman she threw him out months ago but he has since been stalking her, this time it escalated into violence, “I was sure he was going to kill me” she said in an heavily accented English, then added “if it were not for the Jewish rabbis I would be much worse, they saved my life.”

FDNY EMS responded to the scene and treated the woman for head trauma.

At the scene a few residents from the building attempted to ‘heat up’ the scene and turn it into a racial issue, but together Shomrim and police handled the matter with professionalism and courtesy, diffusing the matter and sending the instigators on their way.

“It’s not about black, white or even green for that matter, a woman was getting assaulted and Shomrim had the opportunity to help, so we did” said the Shomrim member who witnessed the incident.

Police officers thanked Shomrim for the job well done.

In case of an emergency never hesitate to call 911 and Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 24/7

  • I was there

I was walking by and in seconds numerous Shomrim members came from all directions, it was amazing!
Its good to know that if g-d forbid something was to happen that we can rely on those great volunteers of shomrim to come to our rescue in a moments notice.

Great job, keep it up (actuality get even better- “if good is good, is better not better”).

    A thankful CHER.
May we all have a good and safe Yom Tov!

  • Dov G.

Shomrim are great people doing great things!

Thanks for being here for us!

May Hashem give you all what you need and all that you want!

  • Doing is the main thing

    “Doing is the main thing”

It’s good to see an organization that is about DOING and not about making a name for itself (and hanging up signs etc..)

Thank you shomrim for being more then just a sticker or sign and actually going out and helping and making a difference.

“a little light pushes away alot of darkness”.

    Thank you Shomrim
Thank you NYPD (shomrims got your back).

  • real courage

I wish I had the gutz to do what this shomrim member did.
It takes a lot of courage to get involved when you see a fellow in trouble.

Unfortunately most of us (including myself) would see such a thing and just walk away saying “it’s none of my business, why should I get involved?”
    It’s something that must change!
It’s not good to be to passive and selfish!

  • mesira?

were any shomrim members arrested for helping this women?

I mean see was being assaulted and shomrim got involved, Who gives them the right? was there not a case a few month ago when a few Jewish kids wanted to assaulted another Jew and shomrim got involved (to try and work it out) and then got arrested on false charges?
Were is shmira when it comes to (this) mesira????

  • Think a little!

Why are you mixing it to other peoples prblems. Dont you think this Spanish guy is now going to make trouble for us Lubavithcers? Choose your battles wisely!!

  • mendy

Shomrim always say that they are married men as apposed to sh… however from the pics i see otherwise.

  • Shomrim Booster

    to “think a little!”:

there is a saying that “for evil to prevail all it takes is good men to do nothing” with your approach i guess shomrim should have just watched this man beat the woman to death and not get involved “for the greater good”?

tomorrow the world meight end, but today you see somthing and you can make a difference, why not grab that oppertunity to do good?! and frankly, are you scared of a man who needs to beat on a woman to exircise his “bigness”?

    mendey:

take a close look, i see five married guys in the pictures. shomrim is comprised of men that are willing to help, all adults and responsible people, marriage doesnt make one an adault or not, just take a look at sh… :-)

  • a CH imma

It doesn’t matter whether or not this was a Jewish woman! Someone was in need of help and Shomrim came running!
One Yom Tov night, on my way home from my aunt’s house, I was harrassed by a bunch of thugs on Eastern Parkway. Every yid that passed by, turned their face and ignored my situation. It took a goy to help me! After scaring off the thugs he asked if I wanted him to call the neighborhood watch. I told him no and he and his wife walked me to Kingston Ave.
Needless to say.. If we see someone is need, no matter who that someone is, lets all learn from Shomrims’ many good deeds in the neighborhood that have been publicized recently, and jump in to help. Even if it is picking up the phone to dial 911 or Shomrim.

“Think a little” you are doing exactly that.. Thinking very very little. Please use the “sechal” that you were hopefully born with!

  • our protectors

    Man committing a crime.
Shomrim gives a hand and lawfully holds him. the police arrive, make an arrest.
No shomrim member has to leave the country and were not on the brink of another riot.

Thank you shomrim for doing a great job, as always.

I don’t have to write your number here because who ever has to know it already does.

  • Don-t be a victim twice

If you don’t want to be a victim twice, you’d best call Shomrim!

  • Elliyahu

Those Jamaican neighbours who swore and yelled utterly stupid accusations against Shomrim are low lifes. I really wish the cops could charge them also for interfering – public mischief verbal abuses against life-saving efforts of the good guys. What a a bunch of creeps.
