Police Officer does nothing as Black Teen Strikes Woman, Man

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — As residents were returning home from Shul on Motzoai Shabbos one Black teen on a bicycle assaulted a Man and later a woman along Empire Boulevard, and witnesses claim that one police officer watched part of it and did nothing.

The incident began on Brooklyn and Empire where the man was kicked by the cycling teen, who than made another pass and pulled out a large ‘box cutter’ type knife and cursed at the man he has assaulted. A police officer who was posted on that corner witnessed the incident and immediately called for backup and began giving chase after the perp who fled towards Kingston.

Two officers from the Community Policing Unit of the 71st Precinct, Officers Ayres and Silverstein arrived on scene within seconds and took the victim and a witness to search for the perp, while a few more police cars responded to the scene. Shomrim was also called and responded.

What happened next has residents up in arms, according to witnesses they observed the same teen on a ‘trick’ bike wearing an orange or red tee-shirt riding in between Jews on the sidewalk while cursing at them, then signing it off with yet another kick aimed at a Jewish woman.

An officer that was posted on Kingston and Empire, who was identified as Officer Dry of the BSTF, watched the whole thing and did absolutely nothing. One resident was seen talking to officers at the initial scene and passionately described what had taken place, how the officer didn’t even bother to pick up his radio.

Detectives from what appeared to be the Hate Crimes Task Force, as well as numerous officers from the Community Affairs Unit responded to the scene.

After the incident on Kingston the search from the perp ended with no success in finding the perp, the victim was taken back to the Precinct to file a police report. Shomrim members on scene took it upon themselves to not let the issue go and identified the other victim and witnesses and transported them to the station in order to file the reports, then transported them home.

The matter of the police officer not doing anything on Kingston and Empire is being investigated.

    I’ve seen posts about all the recent violence on yeshiva world i heard about it on the dov hinkind show, I’ve even had friends from other communities call me and and asked about these events from what they’ve seen on tv. Now from what I’me hearing all jews everywhere want to pitch in and help, why don’t we form a protest with thousands of more jews from the tri-state area and beyond, can you imagine the effect it will have if we have 10,000 people walking our streets!!! any opinions?

    By hashgacha pratis (Literally-Actually) Ten minutes ago I just heard something about the whole crime issue and I don’t know if it’s widely known.
    While in the mikva I was told that just before the Yom Shishi (Friday) demonstration Inspector Vega was going to call out the riot police to handle the crowd of Jews, G-d forbid.
    Chief Joseph Fox, who is in charge of all of Brooklyn, heard about it. He hurried over to the 71st Pct. to talk to the inspector. The white-haired Fox, unable to get through the police barricades went over a few of them himself, eager to talk to Inspector Vega.
    Chief Fox told the inspector to ‘cool it.’ “It’s very close to Shabbos.” He said. “Soon most of these Jews will leave.” This will create a storm of media attention that will last for weeks if Jews are clubbed and arrested.
    Basically the police department is scared silly of bad media. The main thing is not stopping crime or protecting the public but avoidance of ‘bad media.’
    Compounding this gaava is the fact that politicians and human rights advocates argue that minorities and whites across America commit about the same amount of crime. It cannot be that a ‘white’ community (Crown Heights) has such a low level of arrests of whites.
    Therefore the police department, in order to come out ‘shining’ and praiseworthy (Could mean promotions, money, honor, etc) tries to ignore minority crime and arrest Jews. This could be a national phenomenon.
    How does it appear now? The police department in Crown Heights is the guardian of the Jewish community; protecting them from the Blacks. The police and politicians don’t like this. They want more Jewish arrests, convictions and imprisonments or fines. It’s a ‘witch hunt.’
    If you remember what happened to Bernhard Goetz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wik…) in 1986m he shot some Blacks trying to rob him. The first and second grand jury acquitted him. Finally the powers that be made a 3rd grand jury and filled it with ‘witch hunters’ and Mr. Goetz was brought to trial. He ended up in prison for a year. This was under the Mayor Koch administration.
    Can anyone trust the criminal justice system?
    One of the 7 Noahide Laws (The oldest known civilized laws) is to have ‘laws and courts’ of justice. Does, Mr. Hynes,etc. think G-d Almi-ty is happy with this society?

    the same thing happened outside 770 late shabbos afternoon. a car with 4 big black guys drove past 770 3 times making gun/shooting sings with their hands each time they passed a jew. the cops just stood their doing nothing. an older bocher confronted the cops asking them why they were doing anything to stop the car. the cops said “ don’t blame us, we aren’t doing the attacks…..”
    it seems to me that the cops will not respond to the situation seriously, with adequate recourses, until they see that it costs them more not to.
    in my not so humble opinion, we need to close eastern parkway every evening during rush hour for the next week or so , until the MAYOR COMES TO US HERE IN CROWN HEIGHTS and promises to sort the situation out.

    Shabbos afternoon a bochur was attacked by 2 black teens on Eastern Pkwy and Troy
    – 2 rookie cops chased the blacks away
    – the 2 blacks returned 20 minutes later (with the police not in site) and continued attacking the same bochur!!!

    It was the craziest thing! The police called no back-up… in middle of the day!!!!

    Remember: When a fish stinks it begins at the head. Vega is not the problem – FOX is more of a problem and -gasp – Mayoral Candidate Commissioner Kelly is the head. Protests must be heard by Fox and Kelly who really have something to gain by avoiding the riot of 2008. They must be bombarded by faxes emails and letters!

    I think that the only way to deal with police insolence is by contacting the local congress and assemblyman; investigations within the police department goes nowhere- they cover themselves.
