  A few issues here.
  1. Anyone else noticed those extra cops post-Balkany have gone now…so this attack isn’t a coincidence. We’re going to see more & more of this esp. as we go into Spring.

  2. This “attack” never happened…no police report! While I understand the need to dash to the airport, couldn’t a quick report have been filed, even in a cop car to the airport??

  The police suck. I’m sorry, they just do. This is the same story over and over and over and over again. A bunch of “small” things happen, they dont make a peep, then something bigger happens, we all cry, kvetch and whine, make a big stink. Then the police pretend they are on top of it, patrol and over-station tons of cops (during the day) all over Crown Heights for 3 or 4 weeks. Then it dies down, they forget, and we start up again with the “smaller” attacks.

  What happened to all the cops, didn’t more cops come to CH, they are not in CH anymore, we need more cops, the criminals know when the cops leave the criminal come out & attack us, we just had a big home robbery this past Friday, now a Assault, Vega please get more police for us & NOW!

  Someone is not doing their job in this community. These kids are just roaming around aimlessly. Get someone in here who knows what needs to be done.
  This is horrible and unacceptable. The police are not clearing out the pockets of crime here and they need to get moving.

  There is no reason that a bochur should not be able to walk the streets of Crown Heights after a Chasunah and it is sick that that was my first reaction,, Why was he alone,, but a bochur should be able to walk around without the crazy fear, that the shvartzes are instilling in us. We are already succumbing to their garbage,,its rediculous! I hope next time that a bochur fights back,, he puts his attacker down for good… because it is only a matter of time until another attack happens,, RL.

  I live at the bottom of Kingston, and when walking home from the 3, rarely do we see police past Empire, even though that is where the neighborhood really becomes rougher. It seems they stepped up patrol up near Raskins.. but no where where there is actual danger of someone getting hurt!
  The police don’t need to be up in “town” so to speak, but out on the farther edges, where the crimes really happen!

  I am not the biggest fan of the cops, however there is still many extra cops on the beat and patrol cars rolling I see them all the time, I have a cop on my corner almost every day/night, But the animals just seem to be getting there in between the cops, we have to go back to the good old days, if we start giving them a good beating they will find another neighborhood to bather, that’s the only way anything is going to happen.

  what do you want from the police. what are you a child?. fight back, learn how to fight. no more big police presence means less tickets which is good. i say lets find out where those thugs live, and pay them a visit.

  I’ve lived in the Maple St. area for a few years now, and I’m wondering about all this talk about how ”past Empire“ is ”where the neighborhood really becomes rougher“!

  Why is it that, R”L, the reports about these bochur assaults, etc. seem to generally be NOT in my section of the neighborhood? This unfortunate assault on Brooklyn Ave. (between Empire and Sterling) is, B“H, the exception, rather than the rule, K”A“H.

  I’m not saying that I live in ”Ozzie and Harriet“-ville (l’havdil), down here ”at the end“. But I think you should examine some hard crime statistics, before singling out this area and giving it your extremely unfair and unwarranted negative opinion and attitude, which may not really be based on the facts.

  But, hey, that’s OK — the Maple St. area may just be Jewish Crown Heights’ best kept secret, in terms of quality of life.

  SSH! Don’t let the secret get out, to the riff raff (C”V“) who attack bochurim and others (again R”L) on President St., Carroll St., Albany Ave., Union St., Eastern Parkway, etc.

  A fellow ”end of CH“ resident told me that the Rebbe did NOT discourage people from living in the outer edges of Crown Heights. The quote from the Rebbe that I was told was something to the effect of,
  ”Those who expand the borders of Crown Heights are expanding the borders of Eretz Yisroel!”
