Officers Receive Awards following Capture of Dangerous Criminal

A dangerous criminal that was on a violent spree was captured this week and the officers involved in his capture were honored at the precinct council meeting.

On Saturday night Jovan Fredrick, 32, attempted to commit a third robbery at gunpoint in five days. After firing three shots a group of officers, who were waiting for him in unmarked cars in the area, swiftly captured him, putting an end to his violent crime spree.

Fredrick began with an armed robbery of a Jewish man on Kingston Avenue and Maple Street. After the victim gave up his valuables he still took a shot at the victim, thankfully missing him. A 19-year-old teen was not so lucky.

Two days later Fredrick accosted the teen in the lobby of her building on Maple Street and demanded her money. The victim did not have any on her and he shot her 5 times, then stepped over her body and shot her one more time in the buttocks. She survived and was able to give police a description of Fredrick.

Deputy Inspector George Fitzgibbon, commanding officer of the 71st Precinct, shared the details of these crimes to the community members at this month’s meeting. He then went into details on the process that his detectives and officers had gone through in order to capture this criminal.

Together with Lieutenant Luis Machado and Sargent John Addeo and six officers under their command they staked out the area where the crimes were being committed and at 1:40am on Saturday night they spotted the suspect and apprehended him. Officers recovered the firearm along with a cache of drugs.

“This guy was definitely going to kill someone if he wasn’t stopped” said Fitzgibbon, “and thanks to these fine officers he was.”

The officers all received plaques congratulating them for their fine work.

Continue the work of these officers by writing to the Brooklyn District Attorney and demanding that he ensure that this defendant is dealt with unconditionally. No plea bargains, no pleading out to less serious charges. Make sure that the job is finished.

I agree with the above comment. lets all call d.a. thompson and let him know how serious this case is and that he has to lock this criminal up and throw away the key
