Trifecta of Chanukah Fun at London Boys’ School

The boys of the Lubavitch Boys’ School in London enjoyed three beautiful Chanuka programs before they broke up for their winter holidays.

First up was the annual Menorah making competition. This year saw some of the most amazing ideas, four of the Simon brothers making menorahs on the four seasons. There were monorahs out of chocolate, olives, branches and the winning menorah by Shlomke Gordon made out of school supplies.

Next up was the Chanuka auction, where the classes were able to spend their Chanuka gelt that they had earned through learning and behaving nicely over the past few weeks.

Finally, there was the Talent show, where the boys were able to perform their various talents in front of the school. It started with a really hilarious Chanuka play directed by Yisroel Fehler and Moshe Mitz and performed by the boys in Kitta Ches. Then there were boys who came up and shared jokes; Yossele Zavdi, Zalman Garbarchik and Yisrolik Kesselman sang niggunim, Nechemia Vogel did some balancing, Yechiel Vogel played the violin, Tzvki Simon did some tricks on the diablo and Yitzy Muller, Zushe Sandman, Simcha Zajac and Shlomie Cohen juggled.

Music was played throughout the event by Tzemach Cohen and Shneur Pruss. The performance finished off with a Chazonas show by the Kitta Zayin boys, led by Yitzchok Dubov and Chaki Vogel.

Yasher Koach to all the boys; it was truly a special event.

    Oops. Meant Levii!!!

    Best menorah ever.
PS looks familiar. I think we saw it on the cam chat ;)

  • refurbed?

Any of the old boys recognize where in ‘135’ these pictures were taken? looks like in the corridor on the ‘other side of the sinks’ but the door on the left has a window in it? and the doors to the end (I presume to the playground) have big windows? Maybe they always did. I remember running through those doors so fast by ‘dinner’ :)

  • to #9, YES Refurbed!!!

Yes! For those that don’t see the building these days, the building is being totally refurbished; new doors, windows, lighting, plumbing, heating, decorating, flooring, Ect. The building looks fresh, beautiful and a nice place for our boys to learn.
over £300,000 is being spent on the boys school to make the building a much better place for all our children.
We all owe a special thanks to the people raising the funds for our children’s school, and for the dedicated teachers who work so hard educating them notwithstanding all the difficulties & hard times they have gone through.
Hopefully soon with Hashems help the boys will also get State Aid like the girls school and everyone (including the Kodesh teachers) will benefit even more

how come the disabled bathroom which was recently changed into an office is now back to a bathroom????
isn’t that a bit of a waste of money?

The room was originally on office, Ms McWade, Miss Patterson, Rabbi Cousins (when he did not use the upstairs office and others used it,
when Moshe Futerfus came to school it was made in to a toilet for him, after he left, it came into disrepair and was not needed, so it was changed BACK in to a office for the school secretary as it is opposite the main door.
Now disabled toilets are a legal requirement, so a doorway that has been closed since long before you where in school (you probably never knew it was a doorway) has been reopened between the two sets of main doors, new security locks have been installed on those doors and the other downstairs office is now the Secretaries office and the other room is now a disabled toilet.
If you have any other questions, or positive suggestions how to make things even better. I am sure if you contact the school staff who are working on your children’s school they will be happy to speak to you.

  • to number 14 -- Its a legal requirement

Its a legal requirement to have a disabled bathroom. What if your child was CH”V in a wheel chair, you’d expect him to use a cup???

  • Bottom line is cash....

Well if u want state aid you put in a disabled toilet, I think it is well worth the expense….
