Hadar Hatorah Hosts Pegisha 5787 Learning Experience

In conjunction with Chabad on Campus, Hadar Hatorah Yeshiva hosted a special learning program for Pegisha students. Arranged by Velvel Fishman and JJ Hecht– everything was beautifully prepared. Breakfast, refreshments, and drinks were ready, and knowledgeable Bochurim from Hadar Hatorah and 770 set up before the program began, ready to learn with the students. Students began to trickle in and very soon, the room was full, filled with the beautiful sound of Torah learning.

For many of the students, it was their first time learning Gemara. They learned about Chanukah, a holiday they all knew, as it is discussed in the Talmud — something most had never heard before. The learning packet concluded with a summarized teaching from the Rebbe on how Chanukah applies in our lives. The students were enthralled. They took in every word, and left inspired. Though the program was scheduled to end at 1:00, students kept coming and stayed until around 3:00. More than 100 students stopped by throughout the program, from across America and around the world.

We hope that this will become a yearly tradition with Pegisha. Traditional text-based learning in a premier baal-teshuva yeshiva is something that lets students experience what words can’t describe. This fits the theme of what Pegisha really means– encountering Yiddishkite. We hope that the students who enjoyed their experience will find their way back to yeshiva, perhaps during our Winter Yeshivacation December 18-27! Additionally, we hope to open our doors during Kinus Hashluchim, CYP and CTeen Shabbatons.
