Moully Unveils New 3D Shofar Artwork for Rosh Hashanah 5787

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, artist and rabbi Yitzchok Moully has unveiled his latest annual Shofar artwork, continuing a creative tradition that has become a signature of his work.
Each year on Erev Rosh Hashanah, Moully creates a new piece inspired by the Shofar and the spiritual energy of the coming year. His artwork seeks to visualize the new blessings and higher spiritual light that Rosh Hashanah brings into the world.
For 5787, Moully has taken the concept beyond the canvas. “Shofar 5787” features an actual Shofar surrounded by three-dimensional steel letters, appearing to burst outward from the Shofar’s sound.
“Every year erev Rosh Hashannah I create a new Shofar piece, visualizing the new blessings of the new year,” Moully writes. “This year, the blessings come off the canvas into 3D letters blasting out of the Shofar.”
The work, created from steel letters and a Shofar, captures Moully’s ongoing exploration of Jewish spirituality through contemporary art. His earlier Shofar works have similarly sought to convey the spiritual force of the Shofar blast, including works that moved beyond a traditional single canvas.
Moully, known for combining contemporary pop-art techniques with Jewish themes, has developed a body of work that brings Jewish concepts and traditions into vibrant visual forms.
With “Shofar 5787,” the message is one of bringing potential into reality—allowing the blessings represented by the Shofar to burst forth and fill the coming year.
