Yeshivas Kayitz Gan Menachem Concludes an Incredible Summer With a Remarkable 12 Perakim Tanya Baal Peh Achievement
Oholei Torah’s Yeshivas Kayitz Gan Menachem summer program concluded an incredible summer with its annual end of year banquet, bringing together talmidim, parents, grandparents, mechanchim, counselors, and staff for a lavish banquet celebrating a summer filled with learning, growth, and fun.
The banquet featured favorite niggunim, spirited dancing, stories, a recap of the summer, raffles, food, and special recognition of the staff who dedicated themselves to making the summer a success.
The highlight of the day was a special ceremony honoring 12 second grade talmidim for an extraordinary achievement in learning 12 perakim Tanya Baal Peh.
The journey began at the start of the school year with their 2nd grade teacher Rabbi Shmuel Filler. In honor of Oholei Torah’s 70th year, Rabbi Filler challenged his class with an ambitious goal of collectively learning 71 perakim of Tanya Baal Peh.
As the boys approached their goal, it quickly became clear that they were capable of much more. They kept learning, reviewing, and pushing themselves, surpassing goal after goal and ultimately learning more than 200 perakim of Tanya collectively.
“I’ve done Mishnayos Baal Peh for the many, many years that I’ve been teaching in Oholei Torah,” Rabbi Filler shared. “Usually, boys will learn Perek Aleph, Perek Lamed Beis, Perek Mem Aleph, and perhaps a few others. Hardly ever more than that. This year, the boys worked incredibly hard and went far beyond every goal we set.”
Their efforts continued into the summer, with 12 second graders reaching the remarkable milestone of mastering 12 perakim of Tanya Baal Peh.
At the banquet, each of the 12 talmidim was called up and presented with a beautiful, large leather bound Tanya, personalized with his name stamped in gold. Rabbi Filler was also presented with a personalized Tanya in appreciation for his tremendous dedication and encouragement throughout the year.
The achievement became a celebration for the entire camp, with every camper receiving a special ice cream treat in honor of the siyum.
The banquet capped off another successful summer at Yeshivas Kayitz Gan Menachem under the leadership of Rabbi Mendel Levin. Throughout the summer, campers enjoyed a packed program of davening and learning alongside baking, crafts, activities, trips, in house trips, weekly shows, and much more.
Yeshivas Kayitz Gan Menachem extends its sincere appreciation to Rabbi Mendel Levin, the head staff, mechanchim, counselors, office staff, bus drivers, operations team, and all those whose hard work and dedication made this summer so successful.
The banquet was a fitting conclusion to a summer that combined everything Gan Menachem strives to provide: meaningful learning, exciting experiences, dedicated staff, and tremendous nachas from its talmidim.
