BDE: Betzalel Dovid Giller, 5, OBM

The Chabad community in Lod is mourning the tragic passing of five-year-old Betzalel Dovid Giller, OBM, who passed away on Sunday, 26 Av, after being found unconscious inside a family vehicle.

Betzalel Dovid was the son of R’ Menashe and Chaya Giller, members of the Chabad community in Shikun Chabad in Lod.

According to reports, the family had returned home following a drive during which the young boy had fallen asleep. After the family members exited the vehicle, Betzalel Dovid remained inside.

Approximately two hours later, his father realized that his son was not in the house and returned to the vehicle, where he found the child unconscious and suffering from severe heat exposure.

Emergency responders were immediately called to the scene. The boy was found without a pulse or signs of breathing and showing symptoms of severe heatstroke. Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah personnel launched intensive resuscitation efforts at the scene before transporting him in critical condition to Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital.

Despite prolonged efforts by the emergency teams and medical personnel to save his life, doctors at the hospital were ultimately forced to pronounce the young boy’s passing.

MDA EMTs Chaim Shavit and Yosef Yitzchak Sagiv described the desperate efforts to revive the child, including chest compressions and ventilation, as he was transported to the hospital in a mobile intensive care unit. United Hatzalah personnel also provided emergency treatment at the scene.

The levaya of Betzalel Dovid Giller, OBM, is scheduled to take place this evening.
