After years of a courageous and faith-filled battle with illness, Rabbi Shmuly Altein passed away on 3 Tammuz, the anniversary of the Rebbe’s passing.

Shortly after their marriage in 2007, Rabbi Shmuly and Adina Altein moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Shmuly’s parents had served as Chabad emissaries since 1972.

The younger Alteins introduced a slew of educational and community programs, greatly enhancing Jewish life in the city.

When ilness struck, the Alteins relocated to  Wesley Hills, New York, for treatment. There, Rabbi Altein continued teaching, inspiring, and uplifting others.

Shmuly Altein is survived by his parents, Rabbi Avrohom and Brocha Altein; his wife, Adina Altein; in-laws, Mendel and Rochel Duchman; five children; siblings; and the Jewish communities of Winnipeg and  Wesley Hills.
