A Moment In Chabad History: Rabbi Avraham Barnetsky
The Yartzeit of Rabbi Avraham Barnetsky OBM is the 2nd of Cheshvan.
Rabbi Barnetsky became a Rebbi in Lubavitcher Yeshiva on February 1st, 1942, just a short time after its opening in 1940. A Chosid of the Frierdiker Rebbe, he became a Rebbi to thousands of students and was very loved.
In 1938, Rabbis Barnetsky and Berel Levy were sent by Rabbi Jacobson to study in the Otwock Lubavitcher Yeshiva. Just weeks prior to the outbreak of World War 2, a group of others arrived in Otwock, to study in the Yeshiva. In the picture below, Rabbi Barnetsky can be seen standing near Rabbi Yitzchak Kolodny. Only two weeks later, on September 1st, 1939, World War Two erupted, with the bochuring miraculously returning to America.

In the clip below, Rabbi Barnetsky can be seen leading his class outside the yeshiva building at Bedford and Dean.
Thank you to Rabbi Rosenberg of Chadishmedia.com for supplying the pics and video.
In 1997, Rabbi Chiam Dalfin held an alumni dinner with Rabbi Barnetsky as the honoree. Listen to his words.

Rabbi Barnetsky pure and simple was the best rebbi in Bedford elementary. He made yiddihkeit and Torah alive and really cared about each talmid.
