Just a short time after a Jewish Inspector took command at the NYPD’s 71st Precinct in Crown Heights, another law enforcement command saw a proud Jew step into the top role. Inspector Scott Pomerantz of the Port Authority took office as the head of law enforcement at JFK Airport, and affixed a Mezuzah to his office.

Pomerantz, as president of the Port Authority Shomrim Society, is a proud Jew who has spearheaded Jewish causes for years, including assisting including the the World Trade Center Menorah designed by Michael and Bonnie Berkowicz. The World Trade Center Menorah honors the Twin Towers and features a piece of their structural steel, with the Port Authority Shomrim Society holding a lighting ceremony each year.

The Chabad delegation was organized by Rabbi Yosef and Mendy Carlebach of Chabad of Rutgers, and was facilitated by Rabbi Yossi Rapp of Chabad of the Airport.
