Chabad Air Puts Up Mezuzos and Opens New Stand, As ELAL Inaugurates New Fort Lauderdale to Tel Aviv Flights

Fort Lauderdale Airport near Miami is a busy airport that is well used by Jews flying around to and from South Florida. Now the airport will see even more Jewish traffic as they inaugurated their first ELAL flight to Tel Aviv.

Director of Chabad of the Airport, Rabbi Yossi Rapp, spoke at the event and was on hand at the inaugural event, placing Mezuzos on the new ELAL offices in the airport and launching a new Tefillin stand to assist those flying with their Jewish needs.

Other notable dignitaries at the inaugural event included Simon Newton-Smith, senior vice president-of The Americas for ELAL, Maor Elbaz-Starinski, the Consul General of Israel based in Miami, and many Broward officials including from Mark Gale, the airport president and CEO, County Administrator Monica Cepero, and Commissioner Mark Bogen, who said he has been an El Al customer since 2019. Stacy Ritter, president and CEO of Visit Lauderdale was also there and vowed to support the airline and its newly inaugurated service.

The event included the flight of ELAL’s 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which received a water cannon solute as it taxied through the airport. Attendees recited Tehillim for the safety of the IDF soldiers and for the safe return of the hostages held in Gaza.

The new flights will leave twice a week, on Monday and Saturdays, with returns on Monday and Friday.

The Fort Lauderdale flights will complement nearby service from MIA, Miami International Airport, where El Al currently flies with departures six times per week.
