Back-to-Back Tefilin, and a Game of Football, All in an Afternoon Recess

As a follow-up to yesterday’s Picture of the Day, CrownHeights.info learned that during yesterday’s afternoon recess, the seventh grade class of Lubavitcher Yeshiva-Crown St. put on Tefilin with not one – but two Jewish men!

Teacher Rabbi S. Turk described what happened:

The students of 7th grade had just exited the Yeshiva building to head to the park, when they noticed a Jewish looking person and immediately put on Tefillin with him.

The boys had a great time in the park, football, soccer and handball etc. the boys then got a cold drink at a local store in appreciation of their great behavior and outstanding effort in their learning over the past week and they then headed back to Yeshiva.

Upon entering the Yeshiva building the students noticed one of the workers who are repairing the Yeshiva roof taking a drink into the Yeshiva. They asked him if he is Jewish, to which he replied that he is 50% Jewish because his mother is Jewish. The students schlepped him into their class and put on Tefillin with him too.
