Pretoria Smichah Students Enjoy Safari Trip

At Yeshiva LeRabbonus Pretoria, the South Africa smichah program under Rabbi Gidon Fox, students have recently finished an amazing zman that included relevant classes in chasidus by Rabbi Yosef Kesselman and Shulchan Oruch Yoreh Deah with real life application by Rabbi Chaim Finkelstein, the Rosh Yeshiva.

Particularly, the material covered included the halochos of Bosor Becholov, Taaruvos, Yuchsin, and with pertinent selections from the Alter Rebbe’s Hilchos Pesach regarding taaruvos chometz with the latter receiving practical shiurim from Rabbi Fox.

For their mid-zman break, they went to the world-famous Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest game reserves, which includes lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos, along with kudus, giraffes, impalas, zebras, wildebeests, and hundreds of other mammals and diverse bird species. Adding to their harchovas hadaas and appreciation of niflaos haboreh is the park’s magnificent setting: mountains, bush plains and tropical forests.

But if the park wows and allures as a sanctuary of nature and wildlife, the Jewish heart and inner sanctuary impress and entice even more: before and during Pesach the bochurim made good use of their time on Merkaz Shlichus, visiting precious individuals scattered through outlying communities, igniting other people’s neshomos and warming their own. Throughout the year they have made a tangible impact on the community through their personal interactions with the regulars, their mivtzoim and shlichus-related outreach, and their simple presence in town.

The next zman will conclude with smichah by leading posek Reb Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and the Rabbonai Hayeshiva.

Enrollment is now open for next year, and many applications have already come in. There is limited space available, so to save yourself a spot and to receive an application by emailing smichapretoria@gmail.com.
