New State-of-the-Art Mikvah Dedicated in Beitar

A brand new state-of-the-art Chabad Mikvah, complete with a sauna and Jacuzzi, was dedicated today in Beitar Illit, Israel.

The Mikvah, built Bor Al Gabei Bor – in line with Shitas Chabad – was dedicated in memory of Rabbi Boaz Lerner, OBM.

The project was the initiative of local community activist R’ Yaki Hershkop.

  • Recipe for disaster

The inyan of Mikvah to my limited knowledge, is the idea of preparing oneself before davening and the like. It is a strictly spiritual concept.
so to install something like a sauna & Jacuzzi, which is the complete opposite of the concept of Mikvah, just doesn’t make any sense to me. Am I wrong?
What’s even more alarming, is that we are going through a period where awareness of sexual abuse is at an all time high, and one hears terrible new stories every day come out.
In my opinion, to allow men and especially young boys, the ability to spend prolonged periods of time in such a setting, where they are unclothed, is an absolute recipe for disaster.
I don’t want to be a kill-joy, as I myself love a good Jacuzzi, but this is so the wrong place for it.

    • Agree

At first I thought it was a women’s mikvah, though even by a women’s mikvah there isn’t a point to have a sauna and hottubs. But to make a man’s mikvah like this seems gashmiusdik and untznius.

  • yerushalmi to no3. have you ever been at mikva zupnik?

for us the preparing to SHABESS IS TO Scratch your back in the sauna that is our ONEG SSHABAT Nothing to do with preparation for davening

If are selling Tch’olnt and Arbas at the entrance to the mikvah even Perfect pleasure

    For the record.

The original intention was to build a private sauna and Jacuzzi for family and friends. Being recently involved in building another mikvah in Batar, Yaki was inspired to add a mikvah to his project. Now the public can enjoy a mikvah. Only the mikvah is open to the general public (on erev shabbos), the rest is not public.
