IDF Soldier from Crown Heights Critically Injured

An IDF soldier was killed and 15 other people were injured, one seriously, in a road accident between an Egged bus and a truck on Route 6 on Wednesday. The critically injured rider is an IDF ‘Lone Soldier’ from a Lubavitch family in Crown Heights.

From the Jerusalem Post:

The Egged bus 960 from Jerusalem to Haifa had pulled over on the side of the road on Highway 6 when a truck traveling behind it swerved to try to pass the bus on its left, causing steel rods it was carrying to come lose and collide with the bus, Sharon District Police said.

The steel rods blew out the windows in the entire back half of the bus and caved in part of the back of the vehicle. The wounded passengers were taken to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba and the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikvah for treatment. One of the wounded remained in serious condition as of Wednesday evening.

The accident caused massive traffic disturbances on the highway on Wednesday, as police and paramedics struggled to clear the wounded from the area and remove the wreckage from the highway.

Sharon District Police said Wednesday that they have detained both drivers and will question them to determine if there was some sort of wrongdoing that led to the accident.

Please say Tehilim for Zeev ben Kochava, a Crown Heights native who was seriously injured in the accident:
