Toronto High School Girls Farbreng with Noted Author

A group of thirty-five students from the Beish Chomesh High School in Toronto visited London, Ontario as part of their Achos Hatmimim trip. While in London they enjoyed a farbrengen with author and lecturer Rabbi Lazer Gurkow, who talked to them about the importance of keeping their connection to the Rebbe alive.

“It is easy to feel connected while you are in Beis Chaya Mushka,” said Gurkow. “The key, however, is to use your time at school to absorb the atmosphere and store it for a future date. When you are married and settled on shlichus or elsewhere, the real test will begin. Imprint the experiences you absorb during this time of your life so they will be available to strengthen you in the future.”

He encouraged them to nurture a personal relationship with the Rebbe even after Gimmel Tamuz. “Despite the disconnect of Gimmel Tamuz”, he said, “we can still connect with the Rebbe and in some ways our relationship is even stronger than it was before. Whether we chose it or not, we are the generation Hashem designated to be the last generation of Golus and we are the ones the Rebbe tasked with bringing Moshiach. The Rebbe left it to us and that is a responsibility as well as a privilege.

We will succeed. Not only because we must, not only because we have no other choice, but because the Rebbe empowered us to succeed.”

The girls enjoyed the farbrengen immensely and said they got much out of it. During their trip they enjoyed many exciting activities, but conducted themselves in the highest spirit of Tznius and Chassidus. “I was most impressed with this group of girls,” said Rabbi Gurkow. “I can’t thank them enough for coming to our community. They left a huge impression on the people they met and made a Kiddush Hashem.
