Talmidim Hashluchim of Australia Unite for Shabbos

Over this past weekend, a Kinus Talmidim Hashluchim of Australia took place at Chabad of North Shore, Sydney. The purpose of the Kinus was for the Bochurim to share advice and experiences, and inspire one another.

The event was organized by the four Bochurim of CNS (Chabad North Shore): Tzviki Chein, Mendel Inglis, Mendy Lebowitz and Avi Sperlin, with assistance from Chanoch Sufrin, Ari Kapeluschnik and others at CNS. The Kinus was participated in by the following organizations:

  • Chabad of Bondi Junction
  • Chabad of Double Bay
  • Chabad of Dover Heights
  • Chabad North Shore
  • South Head Synagogue
  • Yeshivah Centre Sydney
  • Yeshivah College Melbourne
  • Yeshivah Gedolah Melbourne
  • Chabad Youth NSW

It all kicked off with a Thursday night Farbrengen led by Rabbi Gourari. He explained to the Shluchim how even on Shlichus one must still pursue the regular activities of a Chossid. The farbrengen continued until the wee hours of the morning.

Continuing Friday morning, despite their fatigue, the Talmidei Hashluchim came to a morning Seder Chassidus – “Der Rebbe’s Seder” – with a Shiur given by Rabbi Nochum Schapiro, Shliach of North Shore, Sydney.

Following Breakfast, there were workshops and Mivtzoim, including an address by Head Shliach to NSW Rabbi Pinchus Feldman.

The highlight of the weekend was spending Shabbos together with over forty Talmidei Hashluchim, Farbrenging amongst each other with Nigunim and inspiring each other with stories and a tremendous Chayus.

The Kinus climaxed with an exciting Banquet. Community members Joel Edelman and Tony Mitchell spoke about the immense impact the Shluchim have on the community, followed by the keynote address given by Rabbi Levi Wolff (Central Synagogue), who shared beautiful insights and stories of the Shlichus experience. The roll call was then done by Shliach Mendy Mentz, followed by spontaneous dancing.

Special thanks go to Rabbi and Rebbetzin Schapiro and the North Shore Jewish community for hosting the Kinus.
