Paris Siyum Draws Thousands Amid Heavy Security

Under heavy security, the Lubavitch community of Paris and many others gathered yesterday, the Yahrtzeit of the Rambam, to celebrate the annual completion of his magnum opus – the Mishneh Torah.

Thousands participated in the monumental event, despite the ongoing security situation in that country that saw four Jewish men killed by a Muslim terrorist while shopping for Shabbos.

Despite these concerns, and the hall management’s request to reschedule the event, more people than ever showed up, displaying remarkable solidarity in the face of adversity.

Over 100 policemen and security officers surrounded the event, providing an impenetrable wall of security for the attendees.

The event’s emcee, Rabbi Binyomin Mergi, called up to speak prominent Rabbonim, Shluchim and Torah scholars to share words of insight and inspiration.

A video of Siyumei Rambam in the early years in the Rebbe’s presence was shown as well.
