Up-and-Coming Chabad Community Gets New Torah

The Chabad Shul in Ramat Bet Shemesh Gimmel, Israel, a new neighborhood planned for 5,000 families but currently housing 400 families, celebrated a grand Hachnosas Sefer Torah Sunday night.

The anonymous donor sponsored the Torah for the up-and-coming Shul, the tenth Chabad Shul to be established in Bet Shemesh. The Minyan currently takes place in the house of R’ Yitzchak Rosenblum, Shliach to the Mayanot Yeshiva in Yerushalayim.

More than 1,000 men, women and children celebrated in the streets of the neighborhood after the Torah was completed at the house of R’ Binyamin Mendelson. The honor of completing the last letters was given to community leaders: Rabbi Michael Avichid, Rav of the Chabad Kehillah; Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbul; and city council members Shimon Goldberg and Avraham Nachman Frankel.

Following the Hakafos and dancing, a Seudas Mitzvah and Farbrengen took place in the Shul.

The siyum Sefer Torah was the first public event in the neighborhood, and was a great Kiddush Hashem and Kiddush Shem Lubavitch.
